Doug Hendricks, KI6DS

OzarkCon Master of Ceremonies

We are honored to have Doug Hendricks, KI6DS, as the master of ceremonies for OzarkCon 2008. Doug is well known around the world as one of the main driving forces of QRP and home building and has been inducted into the QRP Hall of Fame.

Biography:

Doug was first licensed as WB0YVK in 1976. He lived in Ulysses, Kansas at the time, and was a school teacher there. In 1985 he and his wife JoAnne, and their 2 daughters, Robbie and Cassie, moved to California where Doug is still teaching at the same job in Dos Palos.

He first became interested in QRP in 1976, but was discouraged by the other hams in the area. He met Jim Cates, WA6GER in 1987 and they became close friends. In 1993 they founded the NorCal QRP Club, which is still in existance and going strong as ever. The club is most famous for the kits that they produce. They have produced over 20,000 kits over the years. Also, NorCal sponsors QRPacificon in October of each year in San Ramon, CA.

He has been a speaker at QRP Forums in Atlanticon, Arkiecon, Ozarkcon, Hamcom, Fort Tuthill, SW ARRL Division QRP Convention, Dayton, Pacificon and has been the Master of Ceremonies at every Ozarkcon. Doug started a QRP Kit business last year and plans on running it full time when he retires from teaching in 2008. He holds an extra class ham license, and his call is KI6DS.
